<body><![CDATA[<p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">A era Mesozoica foi um tempo geol&oacute;gico caracteristicamente quente e com os mais altos n&iacute;veis oce&acirc;nicos j&aacute; registrados na hist&oacute;ria do planeta, com grande diversidade biol&oacute;gica, especialmente na paleofauna marinha. Com a ictiofauna n&atilde;o foi diferente, sendo extremante diversificada e abundante, incluindo formas filogeneticamente basais e avan&ccedil;adas de peixes Chondrichthyes e Osteichthyes. A maioria dos t&aacute;xons de n&iacute;veis de generalidade mais amplos da ictiofauna atual j&aacute; estava presente nos paleoambientes marinhos mesozoicos, interagindo e afetando tanto os ecossistemas daquela &eacute;poca quanto os subsequentes. Naturalmente as ictiofaunas lacustre e fluvial tamb&eacute;m sofreram, por&eacute;m em menor escala, o impacto das amplas mudan&ccedil;as que ocorriam nos mares, conhecidas em conjunto como Revolu&ccedil;&atilde;o Marinha do Mesozoico (1;2).</font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Os fatores que foram mais atuantes na diversifica&ccedil;&atilde;o da ictio-fauna marinha mesozoica possivelmente abrangem as extin&ccedil;&otilde;es em massa ocorridas no final do Permiano e in&iacute;cio do Tri&aacute;ssico, as rupturas continentais, a forma&ccedil;&atilde;o de in&uacute;meros mares epicontinentais pelas crescentes transgress&otilde;es marinhas e as flutua&ccedil;&otilde;es do n&iacute;vel do mar com consequente forma&ccedil;&atilde;o de novos oceanos (2). Com isso, surgiram possibilidades de interc&acirc;mbio de componentes das ictio-faunas que viviam nas plataformas continentais da Am&eacute;rica do Sul e &Aacute;frica, assim como nas rec&eacute;m-estabelecidas conex&otilde;es entre o equatorial Mar de Tethys e o Oceano Atl&acirc;ntico.</font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Neste contexto, destaca-se o acervo ictiol&oacute;gico do Mesozoico brasileiro, constitu&iacute;do por material abundante, de relativa diversidade taxon&oacute;mica e com um bom estado de preserva&ccedil;&atilde;o, com destaque para as bacias do Araripe, Pelotas, Graja&uacute; e Sergipe-Alago-as. Esta diversidade inclui tanto t&aacute;xons de Chondrichthyes<i> (e.g.</i>, as extintas Hybodontidae, Anacoracidae, Sclerorhynchidae e Rhombodontidae,al&eacute;m dosaindaviventesLamnidae,Rhinobatoidea e Myliobatidae), como de Osteichthyes<i> (e.g.,</i> as extintas Semionotidae, Pycnodontidae, Aspidorhynchidae, Pleuropholidae, Cladocyclidae, Pachyrhizodontidae, Dercetidae, Enchodontidae e Mawsoniidae, al&eacute;m dos ainda viventes Lepisosteidae, Amiidae, Elopidae, Albulidae, Elopomorpha<i> incertae sedis,</i> Clupeomorpha, Clupeocephala<i> incertae sedis,</i> Gonorynchiformes, Euteleostei basal e Holocentridae). Diversos t&aacute;xons possuem distribui&ccedil;&atilde;o restrita a essa era, enquanto outros continuaram suas trajet&oacute;rias evolutivas, com representantes atuais. Este material ictiol&oacute;gico prov&eacute;m tanto de afloramentos, quanto de testemunhos de sondagem. Como exemplo deste &uacute;ltimo, destaca-se o registro das primeiras ocorr&ecirc;ncias e descri&ccedil;&otilde;es de peixes na forma&ccedil;&atilde;o Atl&acirc;ntida, efetuadas apenas na d&eacute;cada de 1990 (3;4).</font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Recentemente, novos t&aacute;xons de Chondrichthyes e Osteichthyes foram descritos para o Mesozoico brasileiro.</font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Uma nova raia-viola foi reconhecida na forma&ccedil;&atilde;o Santana, que representa o Cret&aacute;ceo inferior da bacia do Araripe (nordeste do Brasil), e nomeada t<i>Stahlraja sertanensis</i> Brito, Leal &amp; Gallo, 2013 (<a href="#fig1">Figura 1</a>) - os nomes dos t&aacute;xons extintos s&atilde;o precedidos por uma cruz, indicando a sua condi&ccedil;&atilde;o f&oacute;ssil.</font></p>     <p><a name="fig1"></a></p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p align="center"><img src="/img/revistas/cic/v67n4/a12fig01.jpg"></p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Est&aacute; preservada nas famosas concre&ccedil;&otilde;es carbon&aacute;ticas do Araripe. Al&eacute;m dessa raia, apenas uma outra havia sido registrada na forma&ccedil;&atilde;o Santana,<i> tIansan beurleni</i> (Santos, 1968), por&eacute;m ambas diferem claramente em v&aacute;rias fei&ccedil;&otilde;es morfol&oacute;gicas (5;6).</font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Um novo celacanto foi identificado na forma&ccedil;&atilde;o Cod&oacute;, Cret&aacute;ceo inferior da bacia do Graja&uacute; (nordeste do Brasil) e nomeado <i>&#134;Axelrodichthys maiseyi</i> Carvalho, Gallo &amp; Santos, 2013 (<a href="#fig2">Figura 2</a>). Este peixe tamb&eacute;m est&aacute; preservado em concre&ccedil;&otilde;es carbon&aacute;ticas, por&eacute;m estas da forma&ccedil;&atilde;o Cod&oacute; s&atilde;o menos expressivas do que as da forma&ccedil;&atilde;o Santana, mencionadas anteriormente. Al&eacute;m disso, o g&ecirc;nero &#134;<i>Axelrodichthys</i> tamb&eacute;m ocorre na bacia do Araripe, nas forma&ccedil;&otilde;es Crato e Santana, por&eacute;m pertencendo a uma outra esp&eacute;cie: tA.<i> araripensis</i> Maisey, 1986. Ambas as esp&eacute;cies podem ser distintas por diversas carater&iacute;sticas morfol&oacute;gicas. Na verdade, as ictiofaunas das forma&ccedil;&otilde;es Crato e Santana podem ser correlacionadas com aquela da forma&ccedil;&atilde;o Cod&oacute;, nas quais est&atilde;o presentes os t&aacute;xons extintos Semionotidae, Aspidorhynchidae, Cladocyclidae, Pachyrhizodontidae e Mawsoniidae, e os ainda viventes Amiidae, Albulidae, Chanidae e Characiformes. Some-se a essas ocorr&ecirc;ncias a presen&ccedil;a de &#134;<i>Axelrodichthys</i> no Cret&aacute;ceo inferior e superior da &Aacute;frica, ou seja, esse g&ecirc;nero estaria distribu&iacute;do na Gonduana Ocidental.</font></p>     <p><a name="fig2"></a></p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p align="center"><img src="/img/revistas/cic/v67n4/a12fig02.jpg"></p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Para a forma&ccedil;&atilde;o Atl&acirc;ntida, Cret&aacute;ceo superior da bacia de Pelotas, foi proposta a esp&eacute;cie &#134;<i>Parawenzichthys minor</i> Figueiredo, Gallo &amp; Delarmelina, 2012, um pequeno eutele&oacute;steo proveniente de um testemunho de sondagem extra&iacute;do de uma profundidade de cerca de 4.000 metros de sedimentos (8). Essa forma&ccedil;&atilde;o possui uma assembleia de peixes composta por tubar&otilde;es lamniformes e diversos osteictes, dos grupos f&oacute;sseis picnodont&iacute;deo, cladocicl&iacute;deo, dercet&iacute;-deo e enchodont&iacute;deo, e dos viventes clupeomorfo e holocentr&iacute;deo (9). Embora alguns estudos biogeogr&aacute;ficos apontem para uma rela&ccedil;&atilde;o espa&ccedil;o-temporal dessa assembleia com aquelas de Marrocos e M&eacute;xico (10; 11),<i> fP. minor</i> compartilha algumas similaridades morfol&oacute;gicas com<i> Wenzichthys congolensis</i> (Arambourg &amp; Schneegans, 1935), proveniente da forma&ccedil;&atilde;o Cocobeach, Cret&aacute;ceo inferior da bacia do Gab&atilde;o (oeste da &Aacute;frica).</font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Em adi&ccedil;&atilde;o a essas novas ocorr&ecirc;ncias, os peixes mesozoicos v&ecirc;m sendo estudados mais recentemente no &acirc;mbito da biogeografia hist&oacute;rica, considerando que, no decorrer da era Mesozoica, a fragmenta&ccedil;&atilde;o terminal dos supercontinentes Gonduana e Laur&aacute;sia e a forma&ccedil;&atilde;o dos oceanos Atl&acirc;ntico e Pac&iacute;fico resultaram em reconhecidos eventos vicariantes. Estes eventos provavelmente influenciaram na constitui&ccedil;&atilde;o da biota marinha atual, bem como, em menor escala, nas ictiofaunas lacustre e fluvial.</font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Esses estudos biogeogr&aacute;ficos est&atilde;o sendo realizados para a compreens&atilde;o do processo de abertura do Atl&acirc;ntico Sul, as poss&iacute;veis conex&otilde;es entre as diversas bacias marginais do leste brasileiro e oeste africano, e as prov&aacute;veis liga&ccedil;&otilde;es marinhas com as bacias sedimentares interiores do Brasil.</font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Neste contexto, destaco o estudo de Parm&eacute;ra<i> et al.</i> (12), que resultou na obten&ccedil;&atilde;o de padr&otilde;es de distribui&ccedil;&atilde;o da ictiofauna cret&aacute;cica do intervalo Aptiano-Albiano, no Gonduana Ocidental, utilizando a an&aacute;lise de tra&ccedil;os. H&aacute; um interessante padr&atilde;o na bacia do Araripe, indicando a exist&ecirc;ncia de duas biotas distintas: uma mais ao norte, denominada Araripe Setentrional; e outra ao sul, designada Araripe Meridional. Entre as duas biotas, existe uma interse&ccedil;&atilde;o, na qual foi encontrada uma fauna exclusiva, indicando a presen&ccedil;a de uma terceira biota com caracter&iacute;sticas pr&oacute;prias. Um outro padr&atilde;o localiza-se no centro-norte do Gonduana Ocidental, sendo denominado Trans-Gonduana. Esse padr&atilde;o indica uma similaridade entre a ictiofauna dos dois continentes e reconhece a quebra do Gonduana como o evento que as separou. Um outro padr&atilde;o localiza-se no norte do Gonduana Ocidental, o qual representaria uma prov&aacute;vel conex&atilde;o marinha local (Conex&atilde;o Marinha Nigeriana), originada atrav&eacute;s de transgress&otilde;es marinhas, promovendo um interc&acirc;mbio das ictiofaunas atrav&eacute;s de ingress&otilde;es marinhas e mares epicontinentais</font></p>     ]]></body>
